Danity Kane是第三支通过参加美国MTV电视台选秀节目“Making the Band”成军的组合。2001年和2003年，前两届“Making the Band”大赛选出的另两支组合分别是流行组合欧城男孩（O Town）和说唱组合Da Band。Aubrey，Aundrea，D. Woods，Dawn和Shannon这五位参赛选手以相对更为出色的唱功和扎实的舞蹈功底在上百位参赛选手中脱颖而出，最终打动了Bad Boy公司老总，在美国流行音乐届能够呼风唤雨的吹牛老爹（Sean "Diddy" Combs），被选中成为了第三届“Making the Band”大赛选出的这支新组合的五位正式成员。 Sean "Diddy" Combs一心想亲手打造出一支像En Vogue或天命真女（Destiny's Child）一样出色的女子组合，现在有了这个机会，Puff Daddy开始着手为这个新组合录制首张专辑。2006年6月，在参加MTV台的节目TRL时，组合宣布开始正式启用“Danity Kane”这个名字。同样是在参加TRL节目时，Danity Kane宣布她们的首支单曲是和Bad Boy另一位歌手Yung Joc一同演唱的《Show Stopper》。 2006年8月，在打牌制作人斯科特·斯托奇（Scott Storch）和Timbaland的打造之下，Danity Kane的首张同名专辑《Danity Kane》正式发行。在发行首周，《Danity Kane》以23万4千张的销量获得了本周Billboard 200专辑榜的冠军。
